Jeff Joseph, editorial director & publisher of luckbox magazine, joins Tom and Tony to discuss the magazine's August edition titled: Is College Worth it? Aside from the social aspects of college, such as assimilating into society and becoming part of a culture, this qualitative analysis addresses various outcomes associated with a college degree's true economic value. They looked at the lifetime ROI on 30,000 majors (at 1700 universities). Spoiler alert, more than 25% have negative ROIs. Tuition costs, textbooks, and housing were also baked into the study. This data is also weighed against the salaries of non-college degreed workers. A must for any parent or high school student who might be on the fence about whether college costs align or outweigh the projected income in that field. Have you ever wondered why, as a student, you paid hundreds of dollars for your college textbooks, and when you returned them, you only got $2 back? Because college textbook publishers are a monopoly (there are only five of them in existence), associate editor Mike Reddy tackles the college textbook publishing industry and asks even without the overhead costs associated with print production in the digital era, why are students still paying a premium for these books. Good stuff.
